Yet some more from Qargha

Meeting to discuss security at the new campus

Doesn't even need a caption...

This one was funny...the gate guards cut out a the head of a female officer from a recruiting poster and taped it to their guard shack. Gotta love the bravery of just letting your weapon peek out of the window.

A very cool panoramic shot of the campus

Clear days are rare...you can see the typical dusty air in the background

Some Qargha Pictures

Is this not a beautiful place for a campus? The quad of buildings at bottom right is the gymnasium complex. The academic buildings are behind and to the left.

I was less than pleased with the rate of work...but tried not to show it

Loading mattresses onto the second floor of a barracks...the Afghan way

A guard tower and an old tank on the perimeter of Qargha

Unwanted Office Mate

This guy somehow made it into our office and tried to crawl into my Command Sergeant Major's body armor. He lost the battle with the CSM's boot and was not doing well when this picture was taken.
(about 5" long end to end)

Thankgiving and other pics

A little blurry but a great picture of the mountains from our base.

Two beautiful little girls. We gave them pens, candy and some money and they followed us all the way to the Embassy. Not sure who the creepy guy in the SUV is...one can only imagine.

Busted for being on the Blackberry during our Thanksgiving dinner...

We got to climb one of the prominent mountains in Kabul--The Ghar. We had a company of Canadian Infantry guys pull security and we had a great climb!

A Couple of Pictures

These are a couple of good pictures of the Cornwall guys.

Wasn't she beautiful in her homecoming dress last weekend. I think there are a couple of other pictures on her facebook page too.

I thought you might appreciate seeing a little bit of the Fall colors (and Peat)

and you know that I love happy trees in the Fall!!!

Don't these pictures just make you smile? I hope so. Love you big Babe!

Admissions Week

Almost 5000 candidates converged on NMAA for the past week to take physical and academic tests. NMAA will accept 600. Of those 600, about 10% will be women. This is the first year that NMAA will accept women and represents a ground-breaking event for the Afghan National Army!

T-62 Firing

Though this old T-62 is a sitting duck against an M1A1, it's still impressive to watch it fire.

Firing the D-30 Artillery Guns

Gotta love things that go boom...

Cadet Field Training Opening Ceremony

The Field Operating Base is still under construction but the training has begun. First Pic is me MSG Linendoll (my left) and driver extraordinaire CPT Lawrence (my right). Second Pic is the cadets formed up at the FOB. Third pic is me explaining something (can't remember what) to Major General Zazai. Fourth pic is me greeting General Karimi, the senior general of the Afghan Army and then finally me standing in front of a D-30 artillery piece.
