We served as observers for the Sandhurst tryout competition. The top 9 cadets will travel to West Point in April to compete. In the one picture I am talking to the Command Sergeant Major of NMAA, CSM Brashier. He is a great man and speaks English better than 99% of the officers here. He has seen a lot of combat in his years and we were having a great conversation about the role of the NCO in the Afghan Army.
Is the team running in the street the one that won the competition? Do they get to come to West Point?
ReplyDeleteThe competition was purely an individual effort. These guys just happened to all be at the front of the pack together. We ran 3 iterations of the race so I'm not sure who actually had the best times.
ReplyDeleteHey Kraig...it's Jamie, Rick and Gwen. Gwen is getting us familiar with your blog, she is over at our place for Rick's birthday. We are happy to see that you seem to be doing well. So...is the role of the Afghan NCO similar to ours?
ReplyDeleteHey guys...great to see you on the blog! The Afghan army is making great strides, and one area that they're working on very hard is recognizing the value of a professional NCO corps. They are aiming for an NCO role like ours and are slowly but surely getting there.
